Anti-Anxiety Pills
The most commonly prescribed anti-anxiety medications used in dentistry belong to the “benzodiazepine” family. Drugs such as Ativan or Triazolam relieve anxiety and induce a state of calm and relaxation.
Contraindications
It is very important to have a physician's permission to use anti-anxiety pills. Make sure you tell your doctor or dentist if you have any other medical problems, especially:
- Alcohol or drug abuse or dependence, or history of
- Breathing problems or lung disease
- Depression, or history of
- Sleep apnea
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
